I made this cake for a 12x18x2 sheet cake (3x recipe). This cake was delicious! I used it to make a leopard print inside cake. i made it a white vanilla cake though. Everyone loved it. I did make a couple of mishaps with it, but I did a good job over all. Thanks for your inspiration and delicious recipes.
Thank you so much for your comment, LaJuana! I'm so glad that you liked the cake!
Holy Moly! This cake is yuuuuummmmyyyyy! It baked up beautifully. I doubled the batch and was able to make two VERY rounded 8" rounds, a 10" round and a 6" round.
How many 8" cakes will this recipe make?
Two fat 8 or 9 inch layers or three 8" layers that are probably 1 1/2 inches high
Is this recipe using the new cake mix size?
Hi, A customer ask me for a cognac cake! is this cake can be fine if i use real cognac instead of almond extract? Because i didn't fine cognac extract
thanks
Hi, I am planning on using this recipe for a baby shower cake. I noticed that your recipe does not call for any fat (oil/shortening/butter). I tend to use a home made "white box mix" for my white cakes. I'm wondering whether that would work for this recipe - instead of using a store bought box mix?
Has anyone used this with the Duncan Hines cake mixes? Can I substitute the sour cream for a vegan alternative and use shortening to make this cake non-dairy?
Hi. I live in the UK and the only cake mix I can find is betty crockers vanilla cake mix. Is this ok to use?
Hi Fahima, yes, the Betty Crocker cake mix will be fine.
Hi, I would like to know if this recipe requires oil? It is not stated, I guess the sour cream takes the place of any oil? And can these cakes be frozen (without frosting) right after the oven (when cooled) for how many weeks and still taste fresh? Thank you.
